I read the funniest book picture book today--Jez Alborough's "Fix-It Duck."
It begins: "Plop! goes the drip that drops in the cup. Duck looks down and duck looks up. A leak in the roof. Oh, what bad luck! This is a job for...FIX-IT Duck!"
Of course, like many Mr. and Ms. Fix-its in the world, Fix-it duck is the worst. People fear him when he shows up with his toolbelt. A series of hilarious events ensue and a great deal of damage is done in the meantime.
Just like "Martian Rock," "Fix-It Duck" breaks all the rules proffered by how-to writing manuals and sites. It rhymes and its heroes are personified animals. Makes me wonder...
