Guardian Children's Fiction Prize

The long list has been released for the Guardian's Children's Fiction Prize. The eight selected books (with U.S. publication info) are:

• Clay, by David Almond (out July 25 in the U.S. and on my "to read soon" pile)
• Framed, by Frank Cottrell Boyce (out Sept. 1 in the U.S.)
• Blown Away, by Patrick Cave
• A Swift Pure Cry, by Siobhan Dowd (out Feb 7, 2007 in the U.S.)
• Fly By Night, by Frances Hardinge (just out May 1 in the States and also on my "to read soon" pile)
• A Darkling Plain, by Philip Reeve
• The Survival Game, by Tim Wynne-Jones
• The Worst Witch Saves the Day by Jill Murphy (already published in the U.S.)
