The Secret Garden

My daughter is reading The Secret Garden for at least the third time. I think the appeal of that book is not the mystery per se, but the garden itself. Finding something (potentially) perfect and one's own. It's like the dream in which you find a white, beautiful, empty room previously unknown in your house or apartment. The garden offers the children so much potential and potential they realize with patience and love. It is almost a disappointment when Colin's father discovers them in the garden!
