I'm reading G. P. Taylor's "Shadowmancer" right now, even though my mother and my daughter advised against it. I'm not sure what I think yet but I was struck by a paragraph on the very first page:
"Nearby, a fox lay hidden in the undergrowth, dreaming of fresh rabbit, when suddenly it was woken by a panic of a deer bolting from the cover of a holly bush and running deeper into the darkness of Wyke Woods."
Wow. Talk about an omniscient narrator!
