Writer's Trust Award

Marie-Louise Gay has won the 2006 Writer's Trust of Canada award for Children's Literature.

Here's the jury blurb on Marie-Louise Gay's work:

"With a subtle, light touch, Marie-Louise Gay displays in words and pictures the sophisticated interplay of confidence and fear, fancy and practicality that is at the heart of children's growth and experience. She brings to Canadian literature a triumphant blend of humour, exuberance, and thoughtfulness."

Gay is the author of many picture books including Stella, Princess of the Sky, Stella, Queen of the Snow, Caramba and the forthcoming Stella, Fairy of the Forest and Mademoiselle Moon.
