Jaqueline Wilson's favorite read-alouds

Jaqueline Wilson shares her favorite books to read aloud with the Independent. Wilson, oddly enough, has chosen mostly classics, including:
  • Five Children and It
  • Little Women
  • Jane Eyre
  • A Little Princess
  • What Katy Did
  • Ballet Shoes
  • Lavender's Blue: A Book of Nursery Rhymes (Kathleen Lines)
  • Bread and Jam for Frances
  • Where the Wild Things Are
  • Nancy and Plum

Also, in the Independent today, Sarah Cassidy talks to Randa Abdel-Fattah, author of Does My Head Look Big in This? Cassidy writes,

  • "Does My Head Look Big in This? is the story of Amal, a 16-year-old Australian Muslim girl who one day decides out of the blue that she wants to wear the hijab at her secondary school. Her decision shocks her parents and friends but gives her a sense of inner calm and conviction."

Does My Head Look Big in This? will be published in the U.S. on May 22 by Scholastic.
