Revamping the Golden Kite Awards

I received notification today that SCBWI (The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) is ramping up the Golden Kite Awards. SCBWI has announced that, "beginning with the 2006 competition, grant cash prizes of $2,500" will be given "to author and illustrator winners in four categories: Fiction, Nonfiction, Picture Book Text, and Picture Book Illustration." Click here for the official announcement.

Four honor books will also be named. Submission guidelines (either by publishers or individuals) can be found at the following address: www.scbwi.org/gkinfo.htm. Good luck, everyone!
Recently, Jane Buchanan talked to Kim Winters about judging the Golden Kites for The Edge of the Forest.
